Bluegrass, Old Timey Concert to be Held

NEWBURGH – Attention, bluegrass and old timey music fans: you’ll want to make sure you’re at the Newburgh Free Library on Sun., Jan. 21 for a 3 p.m. concert featuring local ensemble Hudson Valley Bluegrass Express. Formed in 2015, Hudson Valley Bluegrass Express features Doctor Romo, Mike Aiese, and Matt Lamborn, all seasoned musicians in multiple genres with decades of diverse musical experience behind them.

Doctor Romo, who first learned to play music on a piano accordion at the age of nine, now plays fiddle and mandolin, while also providing tenor vocals for Hudson Valley Bluegrass Express. Mike Aiese plays stand-up bass, as well as both lead and rhythm guitar; his unique playing style brings a very special sound to the bluegrass arrangements of the Hudson Valley Bluegrass Express. Matt Lamborn, also an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, plays mandolin, dobro, ukulele, electric fretted and fretless basses. He also plays and teaches electric and acoustic guitar in many styles. The group blends tight musicianship with the high energy that characterizes bluegrass music, for a nostalgic American sound.

The concert is a free program for all ages. No registration is required.

Refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Friends of the Newburgh Free Library.
