NEWBURGH – On August 3, the Town of Newburgh hosted “National Night Out,” a free event at Chadwick Lake, put together by the Town of Newburgh Police Department, together with the Town of Newburgh Recreation Department, said Gil Piaquadio, Town of Newburgh Supervisor.
Hundreds of residents attended the event. The Town of Newburgh Police Department hosted a K-9 demonstration with Durak the police dog, tug of war and pickup football with local children, a dunk tank, free raffles, potato sack races and generally made themselves available to answer questions and interact with residents. Also on hand was the Hudson Valley FBI.
The Town of Newburgh PBA, with the assistance of supporters, worked the grill and provided free hamburgers, hotdogs, and grilled chicken. A representative from Pepsi distributors provided free Pepsi products including Pure Leaf iced tea and other soft drink beverages.
Many local businesses and community groups were on hand to provide goodies including Barking Goose Book Bar and Cafe, Cronomer Valley Fire Department, Fearless!, and Town of Newburgh EMS. Local artist Maribel Cruz provided free face painting for the children all evening. DJ Stylez Entertainment provided the music.
“Our town is incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated and professional police force,” said Supervisor Piaquadio. “we are thankful for all the effort that they put into National Night Out at Chadwick Lake. Our Town of Newburgh recreation department also did a great job assisting with logistics for the event. We appreciate all the small businesses and community groups who participated in the event and all of the residents who came out. We look forward to hosting the event again next year.”
