NBCC endorses UnitedHealthcare

Washington – The National Black Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) has named UnitedHealthcare, a UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) company, as the first-ever health benefit provider of choice for its nearly 100,000 member businesses.

Harry C. Alford, NBCC president and CEO, said that the group selected UnitedHealthcare in part due to the Generations of Wellness program, which offers services specifically tailored to meet the needs of black-owned businesses and their employees and to address critical health issues and illness that disproportionately affect African-American communities.

\”UnitedHealthcare’s Generations of Wellness meets the needs of black-owned businesses, their employees and the African-American community at large,\” Alford said. \”By offering customized health resources and services that are relevant to African-Americans and their health, UnitedHealthcare is playing a vital role in enabling employees of black-owned businesses to become better informed health care consumers with easier access to services that help them get better care.\”

UnitedHealthcare is the first national health benefits company to receive this endorsement from the NBCC.

The National Black Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to economically empowering and sustaining African-American communities through entrepreneurship and capitalistic activity in the U.S. Established in Washington, D.C., in 1993, the NBCC represents nearly 100,000 black-owned businesses with nearly 200 affiliated local chapters.

\”At UnitedHealthcare, we are committed to supporting black-owned businesses and their employees with health care programs geared toward improving African-Americans’ well-being and quality of life,\” said Corliss Hill, national director, UnitedHealthcare’s Generations of Wellness. \”We are honored that the National Black Chamber of Commerce has recognized our commitment.\”
