Manufacturing Task Force Event

Dear Editor:

Earlier this week, my Assembly Minority colleagues and I hosted a Manufacturing Task Force event in Orange County.  We met with local manufacturing executives and industry groups, listening to their concerns and discussing ideas on how to improve the region\’s business climate.

We recognize that New York State needs to create a friendlier business environment for manufacturers.  We must find ways to bring down the costs of energy, taxes, and health care to help struggling employers prosper.

Local manufacturers have voiced their concerns loud and clear. Their suggestions will be used to help guide the task force in crafting legislation that helps the manufacturing industry thrive in our state.  For years, manufacturers have suffered through tough economic times. However, with a stronger Power for Jobs program, lower utility rates, less onerous regulations and greater incentives, we will be able to provide them with the assistance they need and deserve.

I look forward to working with the manufacturing community to develop and support legislation that would improve their industry.  If you were unable to attend the meeting but would like to share your pro-business ideas with me, please contact my district office at 567-3141.

                                                                                               Sincerely,

                                                                                               Nancy Calhoun
