Dear Editor:
This November 3rd, we encourage you to vote for Aquanetta \”Ferry Godmother\” Wright for Orange County Legislator, District 4.
The City of Newburgh is in financial and political crisis. We MUST elect a candidate who, for once, has the will, the fortitude, and the integrity to fight for the needs of the City and its people. Aquanetta has proven herself to be that person. Aquanetta is loved by many for all she does for the City, from her renowned summer Newburgh Jazz Series that has garnered the city new cachet, to her organizing youth to become involved in the political process. Simply put, Aquanetta offers the people and the City of Newburgh what we so desperately need: a forceful voice in the legislature and the opportunity for honest change.
We’re the owners of the old Chapman Steamer firehouse in Newburgh. Aquanetta was the first person we met when visiting Newburgh on our quest for a new home and live-work space. It was Aquanetta’s enthusiasm, honesty and knack for introducing us to real and good people in the community that ultimately swayed us in taking the leap in our venture.
Our two-year struggle with our renovation is known to many. More than once, we’ve been at our wits’ end facing Newburgh’s absurd and destructive bureaucracy and have thought of throwing in the towel. Each time, Aquanetta encouraged us to push on and helped us to brainstorm creative new solutions to yet another problem that had arisen with a city agency. In the end, it was thanks in no small measure to Aquanetta’s incredible resourcefulness and unshakable persistence that we now expect to complete our project by this coming summer. That is direct proof to us – and our testimony to you – that Aquanetta Wright is the person we all need to lead Newburgh out of its paralyzed past and present, into an inspired, positive future.
If, solely as a Newburgh resident, Aquanetta \”Ferry Godmother\” Wright could force the hand of an intractable city government, imagine what she could achieve for Newburgh in an official capacity, as our County Legislator.
