Army Reserve Staff Sgt. Owen E. Martindale is returning to the U.S. after a deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom, respectively.
The soldiers return to Joint Base Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst, N.J., for debriefing, evaluations and out-processing procedures before returning to their regularly assigned Army Reserve or National Guard units.
The staff sergeant served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Iraq Theater of Operations. Operation Iraq Freedom now has been changed to Operation New Dawn.
Martindale is a dental specialist serving at the West Point Dentist Clinic based in West Point, N.Y. The reservist has served in the military for more than nine years.
He is the son of Winston I. Martindale of Winchester Ave., Middletown, N.Y.
The sergeant attended Park West High School, New York, N.Y.
