OBAMA WINS ELECTION

President Barack Obama won re-election Tuesday night following a long fought battle from Republican Mitt Romney. The two men campaigned on issues such as wages, the economy, taxes, education and  unemployment.

\”This happened because of you. Thank you\” Obama tweeted to supporters\’ as he secured four more years in the White House.

In a statement released prior to taking the stage in Chicago, Obama stated, \”I will spend the rest of my presidency honoring your support, and doing what I can to finish what we started.

\”But I want you to take real pride, as I do, in how we got the chance in the first place.

\”Today is the clearest proof yet that, against the odds, ordinary Americans can overcome powerful interests.\”

Tuesday night, Obama won re-election after winning many battleground states including Ohio, Iowa, New Hampshire and Colorado.

Strong Democrat turnout also helped locally. Sean Maloney defeated Nan Hayworth in the 18th Congressional District. Frank Skartados defeated Christine Bello in the NYS Assembly (104), and Aileen Gunther defeated Gary Linton in the NYS Assembly (100).
