NEWBURGH – A press conference was held by the Newburgh City Council to announce the re-opening of the bridge on Route 32 last Tuesday.
The Newburgh City Council stated it was dedicated to supporting local businesses. That is why they authorized the spending of $80,000 to install a temporary bridge as a pro-active measure in order to support the local businesses while a permanent bridge is designed and prepared for construction.
The City of Newburgh Department of Public Works (DPW) with help from the Town of New Windsor Highway Department have worked over the last six weeks to get the temporary bridge installed.
Mayor Judy Kennedy said, “We want to thank City Engineer, Jason Morris and DPW Supervisor, George Garrison and his team. ” Bridge construction was performed by DPW personnel Hector Iglesias, Patrick Shaughnessy, John Colurciello, Leo Schnetzler from Water Department, and Edward Mitzner, Jr. The paving portion was performed by Joe Smith, Jr., Edwin Gotay, and Marvin Navarro. New Windsor Highway Department employees were Bill Moran and Bill King.
