Third Annual “ZombieFest and Zumba Party”

NEWBURGH – On October 19, more than 200 people attended the Newburgh Rowing Club’s third annual “ZombieFest and Zumba Party,” at the Newburgh Brewing Company, said Coach Ed Kennedy, programs director of the Newburgh Rowing Club.

“This fundraiser was a great success and will help us with our Fall and Winter rowing season expenses,” said Coach Kennedy.  “in addition, we collected one truckload full of canned goods and food pantry items for the Newburgh Salvation Army, which will assist them with their mission to help Newburgh’s neediest residents.”

“It was a great event, and we are thankful to DJ Ming (Domingo Ampil) and the Zumba instructors, Kattya Fernandez, Maritza Calderon-Caballero, and Celenia Collazo-Roman for donating their services,” said Juliana LoBiondo (“Mrs. Lo”), Team Mom for the Newburgh Rowing Club and Director of America Rows and Swims Newburgh. “ We also had Maddox Elliot, one of our rowers, and an accomplished singer, perform for us.  We had Chloe Lynn of Special FX doing the zombie make up, and we raffled off some great items, from an XBox to a brand new kayak with paddle to a Paintball Party to private rowing lessons and private swimming lessons.  We are thankful to the Newburgh Brewing Company for once again providing us the venue for this event.  Thanks to all of the donations of volunteer time, goods and services, we were able to have a very successful fundraiser.”

“This event was so much fun,” said Maggie Welling, an adult rower and mom of 3 rowers with the Newburgh Rowing Club, “I even came out with my family and spent my 13th wedding anniversary at ZombieFest!” For more information about the Newburgh Rowing Club, NewburghRowClub.org.
