Marist Concludes Play Against Binghamton

SYRACUSE – The Marist men’s tennis team wrapped up weekend play at the Turning Stone Resort, falling to Binghamton 4-3 in a dual match.

“This weekend was really a great opportunity for most of our players to get some match play,” said head coach Tim Smith. “This early in the season, I am more concerned about progress than wins and losses.”

Fredrik Bjerke and Joe Motta earned the first win of the day for the Red Foxes defeating the Binghamton pairing, 6-2. Justin Chanthalangsy and Paulo Siracusa then secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win over the Bearcats’ Elliott Hureau and Valentin Bouchet.

The Bearcats turned the tables on the Red Foxes in singles play winning the first four matches in straight sets before Dylan Fletcher and Siracusa won singles points for Marist to bring the overall match back to 4-3.

The Red Foxes return to action on Friday, February 19th against Sacred Heart at West Point, New York.
