Marist Red Foxes Stay Perfect With 7-0 Win

GOSHEN – The Marist women’s tennis team remained perfect in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play as they defeated the Monmouth Hawks, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the Matchpoint Tennis Facility in Goshen, New York. The match which was previously a home match for the Red Foxes was moved indoors due to inclement weather. The Red Foxes move to 5-10 overall and 4-0 in MAAC play.

Marist made quick work of the doubles point winning from the second and third positions without dropping a point. Melissa Carlay and Lisa Ventimiglia won the first match of the day, defeating Monmouth’s Chioma Gabriel and Grace Wills, 6-0.

Caroline Lozo and Ariel Shulman then defeated Alexandra Graff and Maria Ivanova, 6-0, before Karlene Pang and Chloe Lant won against Adriana Armendariz and Kendal Kauffaman, 6-3.

Concurrent to the doubles matches being played, Elizabeth Brozovich kicked off singles play for the Red Foxes defeating Rayne Ruoff in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Lozo, Shulman, and Pang won their second matches of the day all in straight sets and Lant clinched the match for the Red Foxes winning from the third position, 6-0, 6-0, over Monmouth’s Chioma Gabriel.

The Red Foxes play a road match against Hofstra on Tuesday, April 5th before returning home for their final two home matches of the season against Fairfield on April 8th and Niagara on April 9th.
