Ulster Savings Bank to Showcase Paintings

GARDINER – Ulster Savings Bank would like to invite the public to their 2201 Route 44/55, Gardiner branch to an opening reception on Friday, May 13th from 12:00pm – 2:00pm to enjoy their latest art exhibit, a collection of portraits painted by Nancy Torres.  The exhibit will be available for viewing at the branch through Thursday, June 23rd.

Ms. Torres, a Modena resident and native of Santiago, Dominican Republic, started studying art at a young age at the “Bellas Artes” conservatory.  After she and her family moved to New York City as an adolescent, her art studies continue after high school, including learning at CUNY’s Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) and Herbert Lehman College in the Bronx, NY.

Her first exhibitions were in large downtown Manhattan galleries in the early 1990s.  During the 2000s, her paintings and sculptures were very well-received and she has, in the last few years, dedicated time to painting portraits, which has become a passion and posed challenges as well, according to Ms. Torres.
