Morocho Wins Regional Steak Master Series

NEWBURGH – Wappingers Falls resident Wilson Morocho, culinary professional at the LongHorn Steakhouse in Newburgh, was recently recognized as the regional winner of the company’s Steak Master Series competition. This honor is bestowed upon the top performing culinary team members in the company. He is one of just 60 team members from LongHorn Steakhouse to achieve this distinction.

The Steak Master Series was created by LongHorn Steakhouse to celebrate the restaurant’s commitment to grilling expertise, to challenge its culinary team members to continuously strive for excellence and sharpen their skills, and it provides an opportunity to recognize team members in a unique way.

“We are thrilled that Wilson was named the regional Steak Master Series winner,” said Paul Livrieri, executive vice president of operations at LongHorn Steakhouse. “This recognition is a true testament to his dedication to grilling expertise, and to providing outstanding food and perfectly grilled steaks to our guests.”

Morocho joined the LongHorn Steakhouse team eight years ago. He has been cooking for 16 years, and his favorite dish to grill is the Outlaw Ribeye.

“The Steak Master Series competition was a lot of fun, and my team was very happy that I won,” said Morocho. “I love working with all the team members and managers at LongHorn. There is always a positive work environment, and every day is different.”

All of the nearly 6,000 culinary team members at LongHorn Steakhouse locations nationwide were invited to participate in the Steak Master Series, which took the form of written and culinary tests. First place regional Steak Master Series winners – including Morocho – will now compete for a chance to become one of seven division finalists. These seven finalists will travel to LongHorn Steakhouse headquarters in Orlando, Fla., to compete for the title of Steak Master Series Champion.
