HIGHLAND MILLS – Orange County Democratic Women announced their endorsement of Assemblyman James Skoufis for re-election to the represent the 99th New York State Assembly District.
OCDW’s endorsement is based on Assemblyman Skoufis’ record since being elected to the Assembly. His activities demonstrate an interest in serving the interests of his constituents on many issues. Among them are his successful efforts to keep the Cornwall ER open 24/7; his advocating for increased aid to SUNY schools in the state’s budget; his support for the Women’s Equality Agenda; his work on middle-class tax relief; and his relief efforts to help families affected by Hurricane Irene.
OCDW wants to see the Mid Hudson Valley represented by both an Assemblyman and a Senator who will work together and who are tuned into the issues that people in the region face.
The 39th Senate district that encompasses the 99th AD is currently represented by Senator Bill Larkin.
Orange County Democratic Women endorsed County Legislator Chris Eachus in his campaign for this New York State Senate seat. This campaign will be a re-match for Eachus as he challenges Sen. Larkin.
Chris Eachus is a retired physics teacher spending years at Newburgh Free Academy. He told OCDW that he will focus on ethics reform, education policy and replacing property taxes as the main revenue source for public schools in New York.
