NEWBURGH – The Greater Newburgh Rotary Club, which has provided donations and volunteer support for close to 100 years, is initiating a new fund raising and community event for late October. “The Hoops & Swish Community Basketball Fun Raiser” is modeled after a similar event run annually by The Carmel Rotary Club.
Participants will include non-profits, as well as for-profit organizations wishing to donate their “Fun Money” to a non-profit community organization. In the case of non-profits, they will be raising money for their own group. Other participants, including individuals, will designate their proceeds to a non-profit organization or charity they are working for. It’s anticipated this event will include participation from a broad range of organizations in the Greater Newburgh area including different age groups ranging from the very young to senior citizens. Additionally, sponsors are already being recruited as well for this basketball event.
The Greater Newburgh Rotary Club will collect a small percentage from participants, ranging from 10-20%, depending upon identified criteria. This money will then be distributed back to a number of worthwhile charities and non-profit organizations in the greater Newburgh area by Newburgh Rotary. The club will be providing regular updates on this new fund raiser.
