YWCA Calls for Artists for BRAzaar 2016

NEWBURGH – YWCA Orange County has announced a call for artists for BRAzaar 2016. Artists are being sought to donate one-of-a-kind artistic bra creations in support of Orange County Cancer Services Program, administered by YWCA Orange County. The Cancer Services Program provides free cancer screening services for uninsured and underinsured women and men in Orange County.

Professional and amateur artists are eligible to submit a unique bra creation by September 9. Each entry must resemble a bra, be created by hand, and measure no larger than 18 in. x 18 in. Artists are asked to name their creations. Complete artist guidelines are available on YWCA Orange County’s website at www.ywca-orangecty.org or by calling 561-8050, ext. 19.

To kick-off October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the custom bra art will be on display and available for purchase through a silent auction at YWCA’s BRAzaar brazART event  on Thursday, September 29 from 5:30 to 8 pm at Newburgh Brewing  Company. BRAzaar brazART guests will vote on their favorite bras and prizes will be awarded to the top three artists.  The evening will also include a paint along. Tickets are available (reservations required) for purchase online at YWCA Orange County’s website www.ywca-orangecty.org or by contacting YWCA at 561-8050, ext. 19. (The ticket price is reduced for all artists who submit a custom creation.) Event proceeds will benefit the Orange County Cancer Services Program, administered by YWCA OC.

“Now in its eighth year, BRAzaar is always a fun night out with friends. More importantly, it raises much-needed funds for the Cancer Services Program and awareness for the critical importance of early detection,” said Christine Sadowski, Executive Director, YWCA Orange County. “Provided in partnership with New York State and community health centers, the Cancer Services Program provides cancer screenings, support, and information for those women and men in our community who find themselves without insurance or insurance that falls short. Early detection can save lives, that’s why this program, and the BRAzaar fundraiser, is so important,” added Sadowski. “We greatly appreciate the generous contributions from the artists whose creations make BRAzaar possible each year.”
