U.S. Army National Guard Pfc. Prawarna J. Kindelpitiya has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, as well as military courtesy, drill and ceremony and the military justice system.
The soldier also completed rigorous physical-fitness training and foot marches and underwent instruction and practice in rifle marksmanship, bayonet use, unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, basic first aid and chemical warfare.
Kindelpitiya is the son of Manik S. Ewagamage and Thilak K. Kindelpitiya, and brother of Dana P. Kindelpitiya, all of Queens Village, N.Y.
He is a 2012 graduate of Hillcrest High School, Jamacia, N.Y. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2015 from Monroe College, New Rochell, N.Y.
