MSMC Blue Knights Swim Past King’s (Pa.)

WILKES-BARRE, PA. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Swimming team returned to the win column on Saturday with a 107.5-93.5 non-conference road win at King’s (Pa.).

Kyra McNamee and Harley Illingworth each won two events for the Knights in the victory.
McNamee scored her first win of the day in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:07.55 and followed that up with a winning time of 5:39.14 in the 500-yard freestyle on Saturday. Illingworth topped the field in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:24.52, before besting the competition in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:22.91.

Mount Saint Mary also received individual victories on Saturday from Regina Zeoli and Marissa Catania. Zeoli touched out first in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:30.36, while Catania continued to dominate the breaststroke events, winning the 200-yard race in a time of 2:38.03.

The Knights had strong swims on Saturday turned in by Allison Sciucco who placed second in the 50-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard freestyle and Jessica Daigle who scored second place points in the 1,000-yard freestyle and third place points in the 500-yard event.

In the relay competitions, the Knights opened the day with a victory in the 400-yard medley race and took second in the closing 400-yard freestyle event. The team of Catania, Illingworth, Zeoli and McNamee scored the win in a time of 4:21.41, while the squad of Lauren Schroeder, Rachael Stone, Sciucco and Daigle finished the meet with a time of 4:02.97.

Saturday’s win pushes Mount Saint Mary to 3-3 overall on the season.
