NEWBURGH – Josephine Giglia Byrne’s 5thgrade English as a New Language (ENL)students from Temple Hill Academy recently completed a unit on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The students began the unit by researching and building background knowledge on the Victorian Era and revisiting The Human Rights Doctrine which was studied at an earlier time.
Students completed an author study to further understand the author’s view and perceptions. Students shared that they enjoyed reading the abridged version of A Christmas Carol. The students compared and contrasted various characters from the novella and discussed their character traits.
