IRVINE, CA – The Vassar College women’s tennis team started its 2017 Spring Trip swing through California, falling to No. 4 Bowdoin College 8-1 in action from University High School in Irvine, CA.
The Brewers were taking on their highest ranked opponent of the season thus far, and played well in some spots but weren’t able to pick up any doubles points while dropping five of the six singles affairs. In doubles, the best shot for Vassar to pick up a win was at No. 2, as junior Kate Christensen and sophomore Morgane Flournoy were bested in a tight match 8-5 to Pilar Giffenig and Tess Trinka.
In singles, the lone win for the Brewers came from senior team captain Connie Yoo at No. 5, who knocked off Giffenig 6-4, 6-4 for her third straight victory and eighth in her last 10. Christensen fell to Joulia Likhanskaia 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1.
Vassar is back in action tomorrow morning against Hardin-Simmons University at 10 a.m.
