OC Human Rights Commission to honor 2017 Award Winners

GOSHEN – Orange County’s Human Rights Commission has announced that its 22nd annual Awards Dinner will be held on April 19th, 2017 at Kuhl’s Highland House in Middletown.

The event will honor five individuals who have worked to strengthen relationships among diverse residents and to encourage participation in community life on an equal basis.

This year’s honorees are Rev. Chris Antal, the President of the Greater Newburgh Interfaith Council, Dr. Ronald Israelski, Orange Regional Medical Center’s Director of Medical Education, Abdullah Rahaman II, school Social Worker at Newburgh Free Academy’s North Campus, Co-Founder of the Newburgh Healthy Black and Latino Coalition and the Diversity Manager at Planned Parenthood Mid-Hudson Valley of Planned Parenthood, Lana Williams-Scott, and civil rights and human rights attorney Christopher D. Watkins, Esq.

“The Commission is excited to announce the 2017 Awards dinner honorees,” said Fred Cook, Chairperson of the Orange County Human Rights Commission. “This year’s honorees have shown exceptional commitment to fostering the mutual respect and understanding among our diverse community that the commission strives for.”

Added Inaudy Esposito, Executive Director of the Human Rights Commission: “We are looking forward to honoring and celebrating the dedication and hard work of these five individuals who have chosen to live their lives with a purpose of advocating for and serving others.”
