MIDDLETOWN – Crystal Run Healthcare’s Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Michelle A. Koury, presented Tavysla Walker with the 2017 Crystal Run Healthcare Scholarship in the amount of $3,000 at the Wallkill East Rotary Club’s breakfast on July 18th. This year marks the thirteenth consecutive year that Crystal Run has offered their healthcare scholarship to a local graduating senior. In addition to this year’s scholarship given to Ms. Walker, Crystal Run has donated a total of nearly forty-five thousand dollars to local high school graduates pursuing their college studies in a healthcare related field.
Tavysla Walker is a 2017 graduate of Middletown High School. This fall, Ms. Walker will attend Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where she will major in Biology and Pre-Dentistry in hopes of becoming an orthodontist. Ms. Walker was selected to receive this scholarship based on her desire to pursue a career in the medical field, her academic performance and her community involvement.
“On behalf of the partners of Crystal Run Healthcare, I am honored to present Ms. Walker with our annual healthcare scholarship, which she’s earned through her extremely hard work, both academically and in the community. We are thrilled that she has chosen to continue her education in healthcare and are confident that she will succeed at Nova Southeastern University,” said Michelle A. Koury, MD, Chief Operating Officer at Crystal Run Healthcare.
Crystal Run Healthcare has long been committed to giving back to the local community by supporting youth education through scholarships. With its inception in 2005, Crystal Run donated twenty-five hundred dollars for their annual healthcare scholarship which is administered by the Wallkill East Rotary Club. In 2010, Crystal Run increased the scholarship to three thousand dollars, where it has remained since.
