Save-the-Date: O.C. Country Roads Ride

WARWICK – The Orange County Bicycle Club’s annual Country Roads Bike Tour will be held Sunday, September 17, beginning and ending at Warwick Town Park. The charity bike tour, commonly known as “The Ride with the Camels,” will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange and Sullivan, and The Sanctuary for Animals, home to the tour’s camel friends.

The Country Roads tour offers participants four cycling routes – approximately 10, 25, 45, or 65 miles each. Riders have the option of riding individually at their own pace following marked and signed roads with accompanying cue sheets or riding in a group led by an experienced Orange County Bicycle Club member. Pre-registration, includes a complimentary gift and “day of event” registration is available as well (gift not included for “day of” registrations). Online registration is open on the Orange County Bicycle Club’s website at www.ocbicycleclub.org/country-roads-bicycle-tour. The Tour is a rain or shine event; no refunds will be provided.

Tour day registration and check-in will open at 7:30 am. Recommended departure times are 8 am for the 65 mile route, 8:30 am for the 45 mile route, 10 am for the 25 mile route, and 10:30 am for the 10 mile route.

Registered riders will enjoy well-marked routes and SAG support will be available to assist riders as needed. Rest stops placed at reasonable intervals along each of the routes will include snacks, beverages, and bathroom facilities. Lunch and live music will be provided at Warwick Town Park following the ride.

“Catholic Charities is exceptionally grateful to the Orange County Bicycle Club for partnering with us again this year for the Ride with the Camels,” said Dr. Dean Scher, Executive Director, Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange and Sullivan. “Each year, hundreds of cyclists ride through our beautiful Orange County countryside to raise funds for three community-based non-profit organizations that provide much needed assistance to those in need.”

The portion of the proceeds received by Catholic Charities will be used to support the agency’s anti-poverty programs, which include emergency food and shelter assistance, in both Orange and Sullivan Counties.
