DANBURY, CT – The Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Tennis team opened the 2017 season on Friday afternoon with a 6-3 non-conference loss on the road at Western Connecticut. Sophomore Michelle Carnovale was one of three players to earn a singles victory, winning at the first position.
Carnovale won her 15th career match at first singles on Friday, cruising to a 6-0, 6-4 win for the Knights. Carnovale moves to 15-1 in her career at the Mount, all at the top flight.
Senior Dorothy Tighe picked up her first win of the season for the Mount with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the fifth singles position and newcomer Emily Quinn scored a 7-5, 6-4 win at sixth singles in her collegiate debut.
At 0-1 on the season, Mount Saint Mary returns to action on September 13 when it opens Skyline Conference play at home against Yeshiva. Match time with the Maccabees is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
