Nominations Sought For Woman of History Award

NEWBURGH – Each year, Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site selects a recipient for the “Martha Washington Woman of History Award.” This award, now in its sixteenth year, acknowledges a woman who has distinguished herself in the field of Hudson Valley history. It is presented at a program during Women’s History Month in March.

The Woman of History award acknowledges Martha Washington’s important place in history.

It carries on the history of our site, too, in our desire to honor a woman who today embodies Martha Washington and her legacy in helping to shape the new nation of the 18th century.

Perhaps you know of a woman who is dedicated to sharing and preserving our history. She can be a person who shares her love of history with children by telling them stories or taking them to historic sites. A woman who researches the Hudson Valley and shares what she finds thereby encouraging others to do the same. Or, possibly you know of a woman who utilizes her personal time, money and efforts to help preserve a historic landmark. There are many women, with unlimited experiences who would qualify as worthy award candidates.

To access a nomination form, please go to the website at www.palisadesparksconservancy.org, www.nysparks.com or call (845) 562-1195.
