Crystal Run Raises $4k for Hurricane Victims

MIDDLETOWN – Crystal Run Healthcare held a practice-wide dress down day on Friday, October 6th, to help support victims who have been impacted by recent hurricanes Irma in Florida and Maria in Puerto Rico. During the dress down day, employees banded together to personally donate funds for those affected. In total, $3,958 was raised and split between two relief organizations – the Gulf Coast Community Foundation and Unidos: A Relief Fund for Hurricane Maria Victims in Florida and Puerto Rico, respectively.  The Gulf Coast Community Foundation activated a disaster fund to support relief and recovery from the natural disaster that has affected their region.  Relief will focus on making communities habitable again so residents can resume their daily lives. Recovery will include a range of activities needed to rebuild the regional economy and return stability to individuals and families. All donations are tax-deductible and will be distributed to 501(c)(3) public charities. The Hispanic Federation, along with New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio and U.S. Reps. Nydia Velázquez (D-N.Y.) and Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.), established this fund to help those impacted. One hundred percent of proceeds will go to hurricane relief and recovery efforts.

“Our dress down day to support hurricane victims in Florida and Puerto Rico was a channel for our employees who wanted to help, but weren’t sure how to go about it.  It has been truly remarkable to see our employees come together in times of need, to not only provide monetary relief but to also instill a little bit of hope back into victim’s lives,” said Michelle A.
