Orange County Chamber Of Commerce Breakfast

WALLKILL – State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) was pleased to join business leaders, community members, fellow elected officials and guests at the Orange County Chamber of Commerce’s monthly membership breakfast. The event was held at West Hills Country Club in the Town of Wallkill and the guest speaker was Phil Royle, Head of Community and Project Relations for Legoland New York. Royle gave an update on the Legoland project and answered questions from the audience.

Royle, told members of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce that his company is working toward signing a project labor agreement with the Hudson Valley Building Trades Council. “We are still in negotiations with them,” Royle said. “They have got our project labor agreement and we are looking to sign that in the next week or two.”

Legoland anticipates the theme park will open by April 2020.

Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus also gave a brief update to chamber members. His big highlight was that long-time tourism director, Susan Hawvermale, is retiring at the end of the month, and he is working to bring that office back under the county government umbrella.

Neuhaus has been increasing county funding for tourism promotion during his tenure to promote the county and what it has to offer to visitors. On Thursday, he said the county will be partnering with Legoland and Casino World Catskills to promote Orange County and the region.
