Carroll Recognized as a 2017 O.C. Rising Star

GOSHEN – Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange and Sullivan is proud to announce that Lindsay Carroll has been recognized as a 2017 Orange County Rising Star. The award recognizing up and coming professionals under the age of 40 who live, work, or volunteer in Orange County, is presented jointly each year by Junior League of Orange County and Leadership Orange. Lindsay was one of 19 Rising Stars recognized at the awards ceremony and reception hosted at Anthony’s Pier 9.

Lindsay is an employee of Catholic Charities and the Project Coordinator for Operation PJ Pride, the Port Jervis community anti-drug coalition spearheaded by Catholic Charities. The coalition includes more than 50 community members and agencies from all aspects of the community who work together to reduce substance use in both youth and adults. Operation PJ Pride is committed to developing strong community partnerships in an effort to encourage positive change from the ground up.  Lindsay is responsible for coordinating the coalition’s community outreach initiatives and events to ensure they reach those most vulnerable to substance abuse and other risky behaviors.

“We are immensely proud of Lindsay and grateful that she is part of the Catholic Charities family,” said Dr. Dean Scher, CEO of Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange and Sullivan. “Lindsay has an uncanny ability to navigate the complexities of the Port Jervis community and motivate coalition members to take an active role in making a positive difference. She has a drive to help others while highlighting the beauty and history of her hometown,” added Dr. Scher.

A life-long resident of Port Jervis, Lindsay has committed herself both personally and professionally to highlighting the many positive aspects of the community she loves. She volunteers at the overnight warming station for the homeless, and is actively involved in a variety of committees, including the 4th Ward Neighborhood Watch, Council of Community Agencies, Empowering Port, Healthy Orange, and the Port Jervis High School Chapter of SADD.

Lindsay earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Albany and is a graduate of Leadership Sullivan and the National Coalition Academy of the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America accreditation program.
