NEWBURGH – If you have ever been in Arms Acres Hospital in Carmel, you may have received therapy from a songstress. That’s where Tanisha Castellanos is employed. But, God has also gifted her with a voice and gave her a testimony.

“I was born with… hip dysplasia… in both hips… I was in a lower body caste until the age of… 3 ½ or 4… I lived basically at Westchester Medical Hospital… They thought I would be in a wheelchair for my whole life… I basically had to have my pelvis crushed and recreated so I could walk.… I sang in the hospital to entertain the nurses,” said Castellanos who has been singing since she was two years old. She started developing that gift in elementary school in chorus.

Castellanos, born and raised in Newburgh, recently headlined on the 2016-2017 “Jesus Cares” Tour alongside other Newburgh Recording Artists Ralph Williams and Jasmine Parker.

The tour went to various cities from the Hudson Valley as far as the Bronx. She also has a single, “Thirsty,” that is currently available on all digital outlets.

Despite being busy working full-time and singing, Castellanos has just written her first book titled “Worth the Wait.”

“God had spoken over my life for a long time… that I would have a world-wide ministry and I would not just record music, but I would write music… In 2015, I went to bed one night praying for myself and the next morning I was praying, I was interceding for myself, me making faith moves… The next morning, I woke up with a pad, a journal, and a pen and I started just writing and from the chapters… to the content… it was like God downloaded a book into my spirit… That’s what came out,” said Castellanos.

Her book is about how it’s worth waiting on the promises of God to come to pass in people’s lives.

“I meet a lot of people… who are not fulfilled… ’Worth the Wait’ is saying hold up, it is worth waiting on God to see what he has said over your life come unfolding in your life. You shouldn’t be pressured by what society says, what your friends say, what even you say because when we push God’s timetable, we get an Ishmael when he has an Israel,” said Castellanos.

Castellanos has no plans to stop singing. She has plans to release a new single also titled “Worth the Wait” centered around the book in a few weeks. “Worth the Wait,” the book, comes out December 7 on www.amazon.com.
