Kartrite “Tops Off” New Hotel and Waterpark

MONTICELLO – The Kartrite Hotel and Indoor Waterpark, which is on schedule to open in early 2019, celebrated the completion of the structural phase of the project with a topping-off ceremony Friday.

Key members from the project, including representatives from The Kartrite, Aquatic Development Group, and Suffolk Construction, were joined by the project’s construction workers to watch as the final steel beam, weighing 1,500 pounds and 37 feet in length, was hoisted into place.

“It is fitting that we should take a moment to celebrate this monumental milestone in the construction of New York State’s most anticipated new family vacation destination for adventure seekers of all ages,” said Brian Czarnecki, Camelback Resort chief operating officer.

“Thanks to the hard work and ingenuity of our world-class construction team, we are right on track to bring this exciting project to completion early next year.”

Before the beam was hoisted into place, it was signed by members of the project’s construction teams and an American flag and a pine tree were placed on top.

The topping-off ceremony marks the symbolic completion of the structural phase of the building, which includes two acres of exhilarating four-season indoor waterpark space and a luxury hotel with 324 guest suites. The project, which is located on the Resorts World Catskills campus, is expected to cost in excess of $150 million.

The award-winning leadership and cutting-edge innovation from Aquatic Development Group (ADG) has created a modern, state-of-the-art indoor waterpark for guests of all ages.

Inspired by the architecture of indoor waterparks in Europe, the Kartrite’s unobstructed column-free construction will feature a barrel-shaped transparent Texlon roof that will bathe visitors in natural sunlight throughout the year. The waterpark is designed to maintain a year-round Caribbean-like environment, which will allow tropical plants to thrive inside the waterpark, immersing guests in a vegetation-rich environment.

“The Kartrite is the culmination of ingenuity, daring architectural design and craftsmanship,” said Chris Hewison, Aquatic Development Group project executive. “Creating a column-free waterpark required us to engineer massive, curved wooden pieces that join together to create the barrel-shaped roof you see today. This unique design is just one example of ADG’s InDepth Approach which combines methodology to planning, design, construction and manufacturing, focusing on both in-water and out-of-the-water guest experiences.”

Built in the midst of 1,600 acres of wilderness in the Catskill Mountains, the waterpark will also feature five ProSlide-supplied waterslides, a FlowRider surf attraction, a wave pool with an LED movie screen, a lazy river, a kid’s activity pool, and a multi-level play structure with slides, as well as a Mezzanine level with a bar and grill. This new world-class hotel and waterpark will also feature multiple innovative restaurants, a relaxing spa, a ropes course, and an arcade.
