Are You Paying Attention to What’s Going On?

Wow! It’s been almost one year since I allowed you to know what was going on in my mind.

My last opportunity for you to be able to do so was April 17, 2017 which was when my last column was written. Did you miss me or were you happy to no longer have to hear my point of view? “Seriously” think about that before you allow yourself to come up with that answer.

Truthfully, I missed sharing my thoughts with you. Hopefully, you feel likewise about me.

Starting from last year I most recently received the “Key” to the city of Newburgh, which was presented to me this past December 10th. I also was one of the honorees of the “Black Pioneers of MVP Health Care” which was held on Feb. 10th. Also, on Feb. 26th I, along with my two sons, Philip Howard and Omari Shakur, was one of the many honorees that received a “Certificate of Appreciation” in “Celebration of Black History Month” from Senator William Larkin, Jr. and the Rev. John Borden’s Holy Trinity Church of Unity C.O.G.I.C. To GOD be the glory!

So much has gone on in my absence from you, therefore, first and foremost, let me say just how happy that I am to be back with you. In fact, I find myself wondering how it was possible for me to stay away so long, for you are so special to me. Even though knowing that some of you may not even be in agreement with my point of view, but guess what, “that’s okay!”

So much has gone on in this past year that truthfully I find myself in a maze. Somehow, I can’t believe what I am hearing or seeing. It seems like this is a horror movie that I have been viewing that is so crazy that it seems like it’s too crazy to be believable. It is like a movie that leaves one unable to believe or understand what they have just viewed. Wow!
Is all of this “Real” or is it just a figment of my imagination? Can what I am viewing on the television be really “Real” or am I just dreaming and having a nightmare? Wow!

If so, “Lord, please wake me up!” Can we not realize that if this is real we are all in real “Serious” trouble. We had “All” better “Wake Up” and realize just what is really going on and where this country is heading. Whether we agree or not, we are “All” heading for “Destruction” if things continue going in the direction that it is heading. America is the laughing stock of the world right about now.

I miss seeing and hearing President Obama, for even though he was unable to bring about the changes that were so “Desperately” needed, his very presence in that house, which was built by my forefathers, was food and strength for my very spirit. That family’s very presence in that “White” house should help us all be able to realize just how far that we had come as it pertained to race relations in this country. Now, we must realize just how far back that we have fallen. Hopefully, this country will Wake Up and realize that we can no longer allow ourselves to be separated and divided for we will “All” eventually reap the sorrows which that will wreak upon “Our” country. Whether we acknowledge it or not we are “All” connected. In our enemies eyes we are “All” Americans. The demise of this country will most definitely affect “All” of us. “Wake Up!” “Wake Up!” “Wake Up!”

I have truly missed sharing my thoughts with you and hopefully you feel likewise. Sometimes you may not understand my point of view but please don’t allow that to allow you to not at least try to understand me and why my point of view is the way that it is.

Every thought that I share with you has and always will be coming forth from a heart of “Love” but sometimes it has to be “Tough” love.
