Mount Suffers Non-conference Loss to Baruch

WAPPINGERS FALLS – The Mount Saint Mary College Baseball team returned to action on Saturday afternoon and was dealt a 9-4 loss by visiting Baruch. Three Knights finished the day with two hits, including Jack Goodwin and John Santana who each scored a run.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, the Mount rallied with a single run in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth to pull in front 4-2. Kevin Edgar drove in the Mount’s first run with Santana and Christopher Introcaso producing run scoring base hits in the fifth. Anthony Rizzo plated the Mount’s final run of the day with a single in the sixth.

Baruch moved back in front with two runs in the seventh and broke the game open with four tallies in the ninth. Edwin St. HIlaire plated a run in the seventh with a single and was in the middle of the four run ninth with an RBI and a run scored.

Both teams finished the game with 10 hits, with Goodwin and Santana each posting a pair of safeties, including triples, and a run scored. Santana and Introcaso drove in runs, with Rizzo going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Blake Keenan doubled for the Mount.

Gerardo Roque and St. Hilaire each drove in two runs for the Bearcats with Liam O’Gara finishing the day 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

The Mount used seven pitchers in the game, with Keenan making the start and working 2.0 innings and striking out two. Matthew Lawlor earned the win in relief for Baruch, allowing a single unearned run in 4.0 innings, striking out three.
