Ellenville Standout Signs With SUNY Orange

ELLENVILLE – During a special ceremony held in the High School Media Center on Monday, March 19, Ellenville High School (EHS) basketball powerhouse Azela Rivera signed a Letter of Intent to SUNY Orange as her family, friends, and teammates looked on.

Rivera, who played basketball at Ellenville for three years, scored a total of 220 points during the 2017-2018 season, averaging 11.5 points per game. She also competed on the volleyball team and was a member of the newspaper, SADD, and multicultural clubs at EHS.

During the ceremony, Azela’s coach, Samantha Ellis, praised the student athlete for her positive contributions on and off the court, calling her the “heart and soul” of the Ellenville Girls Basketball team.

“Thank you for the privilege of being your coach,” Ellis said. “You have so much potential and I look forward to watching you play at SUNY Orange.”
