Knights Score Road Conference Victory

FARMINGDALE – The Mount Saint Mary College Men’s Tennis earned a key Skyline Conference road win on Saturday, topping Farmingdale State 7-2. The Knights took two of the three doubles decisions and won the top five singles matches.

The Mount got off to a good start in the match by winning the top two doubles matches. The duo of Matt Anastasi and Chris McGorty improved to 10-4 on the season with an 8-2 win at the top position, while Jaden Tiriolo and Charles Benfer moved to 7-5 as a unit with a hard fought 9-7 win at the second slot.

Anastasi continued his strong singles play for the Knights, collecting his 12th win of the year and moving to 12-3 with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 first singles win on Saturday. McGorty followed suite with his 11th win of the season with a 7-5, 6-0 win for the Knights at second singles.

Junior Shane Terry moved to 8-6 in singles matches on the season with a 6-3, 6-3 third singles triumph, while Tiriolo battled his way to a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 fourth singles win. Benfer moved to 4-3 against Skyline Conference opponents with a 6-0, 6-0 fifth singles win for the Knights.

Saturday’s win moves Mount Saint Mary to 9-6 overall on the season overall and to 5-2 in Skyline Conference play.
