Men’s Tennis Takes Home 7-2 Victory

CANTON – The Vassar men’s tennis team improved to 4-3 in Liberty League play with a 7-2 victory over St. Lawrence on Saturday afternoon in Canton.

All three doubles points went to Vassar to give them a 3-0 lead heading into singles action. The No. 1 pair of Adam Krueger and Jeremy Auh won 8-3, followed by an 8-5 win for David Gandham and Jamie Anderson at No. 2. In the third spot, Nicolas Demaria and Nick Zuczek claimed an 8-6 win.

In singles play, Vassar got wins from Gandham at No. 1, Auh at No. 3, Anderson at No. 4, and Demaria at No. 5. In the top spot, Gandham won the first set tiebreaker 7-3 and then earned a 7-5 win in the second set for the match win. Auh played three sets in his victory over Spencer Whitmire as he won the first set (6-4), fell in the second (2-6) before bouncing back for a 6-0 third set win to claim the match. In the fourth spot, Anderson won easily with scores of 6-2, 6-3. Rounding out the Brewer scoring, Demaria win after two hard fought sets, 7-5, 7-5.

Vassar has just one more league match before the Liberty League Championships begin. On Saturday, April 28, Vassar will play host to Hobart for Senior Day.
