PORT JERVIS – Bon Secours Charity Health System CEO Dr. Mary Leahy, and Michael Israel, president of Westchester Medical Center, took sledge hammers in hand to “smash” through a cardboard brick wall and symbolically launch the $40 million renovation of Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis.
Dr. Leahy called the project, which will see development of a medical village on the campus, “transformative.” She said the project “will be at the forefront of a healthier community.” A 43,000-square foot section of the hospital will be transformed into a medical village that will include facilities for Cornerstone Family Healthcare and the Orange County Department of Mental Health Services.”
“WMCHealth is not only a provider of healthcare services, but also a local partner advocating for the physical health and well-being of Hudson Valley residents as well as the economic health of Hudson Valley communities like Port Jervis,” said Israel. He noted other similar projects are either underway or have been completed at their other partner hospitals in Valhalla, Poughkeepsie and Kingston.
Upgrades at Bon Secours will also include emergency department enhancements, development of a new laboratory, a reimaging suite, wellness area, on-site pharmacy, new entrance and expanded lounge for patients and family members; an upgraded imaging enter with diagnostic technologies as well as a redesigned bariatric center.
Three-dozen semi-private rooms will also be converted to private rooms.
