Black Panther Book Author to Give Address

HAWKINS, TX – Jarvis Christian College Spring 2018 graduates will hear their commencement address from award-winning Black Panther film book author Jesse J. Holland on Friday, May at 10 am at E.W. Rand Centre located at Jarvis Christian College at 7631 Hwy 80 E, in Hawkins, Texas. The commencement ceremony will also feature Oscar-winning, actor Jamie Foxx, who will receive an Honorary Doctorate.

Holland is the author of “ The Black Panther: Who Is the Black Panther? “ commissioned by Marvel Entertainment for the hit “The Black Panther,” movie which has grossed more than $1.3 billion worldwide. The sold-out hardcover book is an Amazon bestseller. The paperback will be released next week, on the heels of the general release of “Avengers War: Infinity War,” a film which features several Marvel superheroes including T’Challa, aka The Black Panther.

Holland, an award-winning journalist, is also the author of “Star Wars, The Force Awakens: Finn’s Story,” “Black Men Built the Capitol” and “The Invisibles: The Untold Story of African American Slavery Inside The White House,” The Invisibles was named as the 2017 silver medal award winner in U.S. History in the Independent Publisher Book Awards and one of the top history books of 2016 by Smithsonian.com. Holland also teaches creative nonfiction at Goucher College in Towson, Maryland in addition to being a Race & Ethnicity writer for The Associated Press.
