Boryk Named Senate ‘Woman of Distinction’

ALBANY– At a recent ceremony in Albany, Senator Sue Serino (R, C, I—Hyde Park) named Christina Boryk—a community leader who has played a direct role in helping to revitalize our local community through her work with Rebuilding Together Dutchess County—a New York State Senate ‘Woman of Distinction.’

“Having first met Christina when I accompanied Congressman Chris Gibson at a Rebuilding Together event, I was struck by her dynamic personality, as well as her passion for improving homes and empowering homeowners here in our community,” said Senator Sue Serino.

“Since taking office, I have been honored to take part in Rebuilding Days each year and have been in awe of how she has grown the program as its Executive Director. These accomplishments, coupled with her extensive volunteerism and her commitment to working with local youth make her a true ‘Woman of Distinction’ and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize her for all of her great work.”

The State Senate’s annual ‘Woman of Distinction’ event celebrates women from across New York who contributed significantly to the quality of life of those living within and beyond their communities.

Rebuilding Together Dutchess County is a local non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of low-income homeowners by engaging volunteers to help improve the safety of their homes and breathe new life into our community by revitalizing area properties. According to her biography provided for the event, since joining the organization in 2010, Rebuild has partnered with over 2,800 volunteers to complete more than 300 home repair projects, investing a market value of $2.9 million into localities throughout Dutchess County.

As Executive Director, Christina has brought the organization national recognition and her work has led to their winning numerous awards, including the Dutchess County Economic Development Corp Business Excellence Award and Gateway to Entrepreneurial Tomorrows, Inc. Organization of the Year Award.

A graduate of Loyola University Maryland, Christina’s passion for volunteerism and executive leadership has been made clear throughout her two decades of work and experience. Before joining the Rebuild family, she previously served as Executive Director of The Chamber Foundation, the education foundation of the Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce, with oversight of six education programs including Leadership Dutchess and Youth Leadership, two scholarships, and four annual fundraising events.

Additionally, Christina is a graduate of the Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress Fellows Program and Leadership Dutchess, a member of the Foundation for Vassar Brothers Medical Center Young Ambassadors, and the President-Elect of the Poughkeepsie South Rotary Club. She also represents Rebuilding Together at the Dutchess County Coalition of Non-Profits, Dutchess County Housing Consortium, and the Poughkeepsie Affordable Housing Coalition.

Christina’s tireless advocacy and volunteerism has made her a true asset to our local community and her work continues to inspire those around her each and every day.
