Gold to Run for Seat Once Held by Skartados

BEACON – The chief of staff to the late Assemblyman Frank Skartados, who died last month of cancer at age 62, said Friday that he plans on running for his boss’ seat in Albany.
Gold is a Democrat as was Skartados.

Steven Gold said he has the experience to represent the 104th Assembly District constituency.

“I am ready to introduce and support legislation from day one that has been formed by my experience with the New York State Assembly, and as a small business owner, human resources director, education, city councilman and as the former mayor of Beacon.”.

Gold said he will fight for the state to be about environmental protection, jobs, economic development, and “helping people to live meaningful and healthy lives.”

No Republicans have announced, as yet.

It was unknown if the governor will call a special election to fill the seat for the remainder of the year. The press office did not respond to an inquiry.
