Maloney on Official List of AG Candidates

ALBANY – The state legislature, which will select the person to replace Eric Schneiderman as the state’s attorney general, has released the names of the 16 people who have applied for the job and Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney is among them.

Maloney is up for reelection this fall, but if appointed for the remainder of the year, he would run for the state position, clearing the way for someone else to run for the House seat.
Also on the list of applicants is Assemblyman Thomas Abinanti, a former Westchester County legislator; Thomas Humbach,; and Interim Attorney General Barbara Underwood.
Interviews will be conducted by a bi-partisan, bicameral committee of the legislature on Tuesday, May 15 and Wednesday, May 16.

Candidates will be given the opportunity to make an opening statement and to answer questions from members of the committee in order to assess their qualifications for the position.

The committee will be chaired by Assemblyman Joseph Lentol and include Assembly Members Jeffrey Dinowitz, Crystal Peoples-Stokes, Matthew Titone, William Barclay, and Brian Curran; and Senators Martin Dilan and Brad Boylman.
