Diabetes Self-Management Program is Recognized

MIDDLETOWN – The Diabetes Self-Management Education Classes at Crystal Run Healthcare has received continued Recognition from the American Diabetes Association (ADA). The program was first recognized in September 2004 for its high-quality education services.

The ADA Education Recognition effort is a voluntary process which assures approved education programs have met the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education Programs (DSME). Programs that can provide state-of-the-art information about diabetes management from knowledgeable health professionals achieve Recognition status.

Crystal Run Healthcare’s DSME classes teach individuals with diabetes the skills and knowledge they need to maximize their role in managing blood glucose and optimizing overall health. The program, designed by Certified Diabetes Educators, provides support and guidance for people with diabetes and their family members. Each class covers a different topic and offers invaluable information on blood glucose monitoring, complication prevention, nutrition, medication, emotional support, and habit changing techniques.

“Diabetes can be controlled, but the information provided at these classes is vital to your being able to control it!” said Suzanne K. Meier, RD, CDN, CDE, Chief Clinical Dietician of Crystal Run Healthcare.

Free classes are offered at Crystal Run Healthcare locations in Middletown and Rock Hill. Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions to each class. Those interested in attending can register online at www.CrystalRunHealthcare.com or by calling Jeanette Kreiner at 845.703.6999 ext. 13114. Registration is preferred though walk-ins are welcome!
