Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County’s 4-H Robotics Club is actively seeking new members interested in learning more about robotics and competing in the New York State Fair. This year’s State Robotics Challenge will be held on Sunday, August 26 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the NY State Fair with time available to practice in the morning that day. There is no fee to join if already a 4-H member or join 4-H for a cost.
Thanks to the creativity of Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Robotics Planning Team and the input of teams across the state, the Challenge is growing this year to include new ways for teams to get involved. This year’s challenge will include three parts: Part 1 will be a Lego challenge like last year where teams bring NXT or EV3 robots to accomplish challenge tasks. The theme will focus on natural disaster recovery. Part 2 will be a maze that teams can bring any kind of robot to navigate. Both Parts 1 and 2 will be held on August 26. Part 3 is an opportunity for teams to showcase their robot anytime during State Fair. This showcase could happen in county booths or in the Activity Zone and timing would be negotiated with the team.
Practices will be held at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County office located at 18 Seward Avenue, Suite 300 in Middletown, on the following days:
