Summer Means Library Events and Reading Fun

POUGHKEEPSIE – Don’t miss the 2018 Summer Reading Program events at your local library…there will be performances, trivia, book chats, and fun for all ages. The Poughkeepsie Public Library District kicks off Summer Reading for Kids on Thursday, June 28, at both locations with the theme of Libraries Rock!

Catch a great concert by the band Dog on Fleas at either 11 am or 7 pm on Thursday, June 28. The 11 am concert will be at The Auditorium at 105 Market Street, Poughkeepsie. The 7 pm concert will be at Boardman Road Branch Library at 141 Boardman Road in Poughkeepsie. Both are free and open to the public. Thursday is also the first day to sign up for the Summer Reading Program. Stop by either Adriance or Boardman Road any time to enroll.

One might guess from the name of the band that Dog on Fleas is all about fun! The guys in the band write their own skits and songs, mixing a bit of Schoolhouse Rock, Sesame Street, and Cab Calloway with their own creativity. Kids, teens, and adults will enjoy the band’s energy and humor.

The Adult Summer Reading Challenge kicks off with a concert on Thursday, July 12. For more information visit www.poklib.org or call 845-485-3445 x 3702.
