Hudson Valley Jazz Festival is Ready to Launch

WARWICK – August 9th-12th will be the 9th season for The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival. Initiated in Warwick, this yearly 4 day series quickly transitioned into the greater Hudson Valley and Westchester.

Covered by The NY Times, DownBeat, JazzTimes and other local media it has earned it’s place amongst the valley’s summer offerings.

Dave Liebman, The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Wallace Roney, Arturo O’farrill and John Abercrombie has all performed but the mission of this festival is to highlight the region’s deep resource of local jazz talent and the supporting venues.

From local restaurants to the founder’s home base in Warwick, you can enjoy a concert series on the Green, a park in Pine Island, in cafes, a conference center chapel in Warwick, spots in Goshen to breweries in Florida and Walden, libraries in Washingtonville and Warwick and then some……

The focus are shows taking place in varied environments presenting everything from big band to gypsy jazz, fusion, bop, cool jazz and an array of vocalists.

Each season the festival brings in new artists who haven’t appeared in the past while the public also gets to hear some of their returning favorites. What distinguished this festival from many other music festivals is that the goal is to raise the profile of the participating musicians from the valley and help to define the community as a destination for live jazz.

Each season the festival brings artists in who haven’t appeared while the public gets to hear some of their returning favorites. To date since it’s inception, The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival has presented 131 performances from Kingston to Montgomery, Greenwood Lake, Peekskill, Pine Island, Croton on Hudson, Warwick to Chester and SugarLoaf.
