Local NAACP Leader Attends National Convention

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The just-concluded 109th annual NAACP convention, held this year in San Antonio, Texas, had the theme of “defeat hate – vote.”

Newburgh-Highland Falls Chapter President John Borden, Sr. attended and said the city welcomed the convention with open arms.

“San Antonio, Texas is only seven percent black, yet we were there in the thousands,” Borden said. “We had such an awesome time; the president, Brother Oliver Hill of the San Antonio branch – a beautiful job. There were great politicians from all over the country there, the local ones were there. It was just a great time.”

As far as concerns go with the Trump Administration, Borden would only say “1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has some issues.”

The 110th annual convention will be held next year in Detroit, Michigan.
