35th Orange County Senior Games to be Held

GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus announced recently. that the Orange County Senior Games will celebrate its 35th year with a variety of competitions, contests, museum tours and social activities for men and women ages 55 and older.

Presented by the Orange County Department of Parks and Office for the Aging, the Senior Games is one of the longest running programs of its kind in the nation. It will be held from August 29th to September 9th at various venues throughout the County.

“The Orange County Senior Games provide a wonderful opportunity for older adults to be active and have fun,” Neuhaus said. “We are proud to be celebrating the 35th anniversary of this wonderful event and will continue to reach out to our County’s older adults with resources to help them stay active and healthy.”

Lunch, breakfast and/or refreshments are included with most events. For some events, Olympic-style medallions (gold-silver-bronze) will be awarded to men and women winners in the following age categories: 55-59, 60-64, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84 and 85 and over. Each participant will receive a Senior Games t-shirt and there are door prizes and special giveaways available at all events. A little friendly competition is also fun and we look forward to another wonderful Senior Games.”

Longtime sponsor, ShopRite, provides food and refreshments for most events and staff from the store serve as volunteers.
