Orange County Holds 20th Annual Senior Forum

GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus and Office for the Aging Director AnnMarie Maglione hosted the 20th annual Senior Forum at the Emanuel Axelrod Education Center on the main campus of Orange-Ulster BOCES on Wednesday, August 15th.

Orange County Sheriff Carl E. DuBois, District Attorney David Hoovler and Legislator James O’Donnell also attended the event.

“This important workshop provided seniors in our community with a variety of information and access to the tools they need to remain safe and healthy,” Neuhaus said. “I enjoyed meeting and speaking with many of the seniors who attended the informative event. It was a great day for Orange County’s seniors and the Office for the Aging did a wonderful job highlighting the variety of exciting and educational programs we provide for our older residents.”

Activities at the Senior Forum included the Office for the Aging’s 2018 Public Hearing. Maglione provided a short slide presentation, featuring the Office’s events, programs, and activities from the previous year, and discussed goals for 2019. Public input and questions were taken after the presentation.

County Executive Neuhaus took time to meet with those in attendance and listen to their issues. Following the program, a variety of informative and engaging workshops were held on the BOCES campus. Some topics included Flower Arranging, Fitness Fun with the YMCA, Medicare Updates Q and A, Sue Nichols: Lifestyle Links to Your Well Being, Nutrition for a Healthy Heart, Elder Financial Abuse and Reverse Mortgages, Productive Aging/Falls Prevention, Brown Bag: When and When not to take Medications and Age of Love: You’re Never Too Old to Find Someone.

“The Office for the Aging’s top priority continues to be maintaining a high quality of life for older adults in the community,” Maglione said. “We were delighted to host this educational and fun-filled day with County Executive Neuhaus and our incredible seniors.”
