Ulster Savings Foundation Awards UCCAC

KINGSTON – Ulster County Community Action Committee, Inc. (UCCAC) in Kingston has been awarded a $5,000 grant from Ulster Savings Charitable Foundation to continue its efforts in providing assistance in housing for low-income residents of Ulster County.

A private, not-for-profit organization, UCCAC is dedicated to assisting the disadvantaged in the community – including the poor, the elderly, families, children, and people with disabilities – in order to enable them to live in dignity. Their services are designed to increase self-sufficiency and to empower those they serve to meet human needs adequately. UCCAC plans on using the grant money to help individuals and families with first or last month’s rent enabling them to remain in their residences.

“Housing needs are at an all-time high within Ulster County,” said Greg Howard, Executive Director of UCCAC. “It’s one of the things that the population we serve struggles with the most. We are grateful for this grant from Ulster Savings as it will enable us to help additional families that would have otherwise been turned away,” he added.

The Ulster Savings Charitable Foundation was formed in 2003 to assist the local community in areas of housing, education, and human services.
