WEST POINT – After a victory in her collegiate debut, Army West Point freshman Shelby Piccinic, a member of the women’s cross country team, has been selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
“Shelby ran a very controlled race and did a nice job of finishing strong,” head coach Mike Smith said. “She had a very successful high school career and is a nice addition to the team.”
Piccinic led the way for the Black Knights in a 15-50 win over Maine with a time of 19:25.2. The team took the top-11 spots in the race.
Army continues its season on September 14, when it hosts the Army Open in Wappingers Falls, N.Y.
