Stewart air show thrills thousands

STEWART AIRPORT – From the static displays to the aerial maneuvers including the Air Force Thunderbirds, the thousands of people who attended this weekend’s New York Air Show at New York Stewart International Airport were wowed.
The appearance of the Thunderbirds was extra special because this is the 70th anniversary of the Air Force.
Among the attendees was Dave Wallace of Rockland County, who was thrilled to take in the sights and sounds.
“Just a mix of patriotism and antique aircraft to the unbelievably impressive, powerful Air Force jets, it was just quite a show to see; amazing,” he said.
Civil Air Patrol Major Peter Milano of Danbury, Connecticut was also impressed with the event.
“It was excellent; large crowds, an enthusiastic crowd, they loved what they saw and you could hear it in the cheers,” he said.
The crowds extended way beyond the airport as motorists pulled off to the sides of nearby Interstate 84 and along local roads to watch as the Thunderbirds performed their aerial maneuvers.
